Cirencester hairdresser donates enough cash for 31 mobile chemotherapy treatments after Great North Run

A HAIRDRESSER from Cirencester has delighted a Tetbury charity with a cheque for more than £1,000 after she ran the Great North Run earlier this month.

Jane Tracy, who works at Reds Hair & Beauty in Chesterton, completed the Tyneside half-marathon in 2 hours 32 minutes, raising £1,265 for Hope for Tomorrow.

“It was amazing and very emotional and quite hard work”, said Tracy.

“Seeing all the different people and charities was just great and I had my family from Newcastle there as well.

“I’ve been training for eight months, doing lots of 10Ks to get my strength up and spinning classes with Community Fitness in Cirencester.”

Tracy did the run in memory of her father-in-law who died nearly two years ago. The money will go to Hope for Tomorrow (HfT) who provide mobile chemotherapy units to the NHS.

Kerri Waite, fundraising officer for HfT, said: “We’re really grateful for all of Jane’s hard work.

"We’re a tiny charity and the amount of money that she has raised will pay for 31 treatments on our unit.

“The NHS provide the staff, the driver and the medication but the cost to the charity for every treatment delivered is £40, so that’s 31 treatments which is just incredible.”
