Make sure you stay safe this bonfire night

SERVICES across Wiltshire have issued safety advice to make sure residents in the county have the best possible celebrations this bonfire night.

If you are planning to host your own event at home, make sure the fireworks you buy, which require a minimum safety distance of 25 metres, are suitable for the space in your garden.

Jerry Wickham, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for public protection, said: “We would always advise people to attend organised fireworks display events if they can, but we know many people like to host their own smaller events at home.

“If that’s the case, all that we ask is people take the right precautions and buy suitable fireworks and importantly carefully read the instruction for their use.

“We’d hate for anyone be injured due to this and end up in hospital”.
