SHOCKING footage released by a Highways England unmarked lorry has shown a trucker checking his phone while his food was on the dashboard.

The man was one of more than 4,000 dangerous drivers on England’s roads caught by a single unmarked lorry cab over the past two years by police forces, including Avon and Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Devon and Cornwall.

A WOMAN from Crudwell was left stunned when she discovered a bird which is believed to be extinct in the British wild wandering around her back garden.

There hasn’t been a confirmed sighting in the wild of a Lady Amherst’s pheasant since March 2015 but when Angela King looked out of her window one morning last week she found the extremely rare bird nonchalantly going about its business.

WORKPLACE injuries are happening in parts of the region at a rate far above the British average, new figures reveal.

372 injuries for every 100,000 workers in the South Gloucestershire area were reported to the Health and Safety Executive in 2016/17.
